Frequently asked questions
What happened to the subsidies for marketplace (aka Obamacare) plans?
In 2025 what's called "enhanced subsidies" ended. These subsidies made healthcare more affordable to more people. The subsidies reverted back to the original Obamacare subsidies which are only offered to individuals and families at or below the 400% poverty level (see the actual guidelines here)(https://aspe.hhs.gov/sites/default/files/documents/b1bfa16b20ae9b89d525bc35de7c1643/detailed-guidelines-2026.pdf).

Are there health insurance options other than the marketplace (aka Obamacare)?
YES! There are many options to choose from. All of the options come with pre-sceening health related questions and will not cover pre-existing conditions on day one. This makes it important to understand what your individual needs are so that you're not caught without coverage when you need it.
Do you offer health sharing ministry options?
No. The state of Florida (and many other states) forbids us from selling these products because they are not insurance and are not required to pay you when you submit a claim. It's important you understand how insurance works and that you choose a product with the state required financial backing and state approval to sell as insurance.
Here is the law in Florida (https://www.leg.state.fl.us/Statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&Search_String=&URL=0600-0699/0624/Sections/0624.1265.html)- pay particular attention to this paragraph.
The nonprofit religious organization shall provide a written disclaimer on or accompanying all applications and guideline materials distributed by or on behalf of the nonprofit religious organization. The disclaimer must read in substance: “Notice: The organization facilitating the sharing of medical expenses is not an insurance company, and neither its guidelines nor its plan of operation is an insurance policy. Membership is not offered through an insurance company, and the organization is not subject to the regulatory requirements or consumer protections of the Florida Insurance Code. Whether anyone chooses to assist you with your medical bills will be totally voluntary because no other participant is compelled by law to contribute toward your medical bills. As such, participation in the organization or a subscription to any of its documents should never be considered to be insurance. Regardless of whether you receive any payments for medical expenses or whether this organization continues to operate, you are always personally responsible for the payment of your own medical bills.”
When can I enroll in a marketplace (aka Obamacare) plan?
There are set times of the year when you can enroll. Open enrollment happens each fall. In 2026 the timeframe has been shortened to November 1st - December 15th. You will no longer be able to enroll after that date.
Other than open enrollment, you may have a Qualifying Life Event to allow for what's called a "Special Enrollment Period". Click here for the list of Qualifying Life Events.(https://www.healthcare.gov/coverage-outside-open-enrollment/special-enrollment-period/)
